Frequently Asked Questions

Why Elduris?

The name Elduris is actually the fusion of two words from the Icelandic language. "Eldur", meaning fire and "Is" meaning ice. I rather like the dual nature imagery it conjures up so hence the name for this site.

Ok, so why the skull?

Well, I like dual nature symbolism and to me a skull represents both life and death. In this case a Canadian lynx skull is the subject matter. Fire and ice; life and death, it’s all related in someway philosophically. But that’s a little too much for an art site I would think.

Do you sell prints or take commissions? Art trades?

I do sell prints. Listed on my print sales page are all images I can readily replicate. However, I am able to reproduce other images in my gallery. If you are interested in one not listed, contact me and I can let you know.

I am available for a limited number of commissions at any given time. If interested, contact me for availability and pricing.

Art trades I do on occasion however I tend to be picky with them. And there is no guarantee I will be accepting any at any given moment.

I really like this picture you drew, can I use it?

Please refer to my Terms of usage regarding this.

Got any more pictures stashed anywhere?

What you see here on this site and on my online galleries is all I have listed publicly. Any other pictures not shown are sitting in my room and may not be scanned, or have been removed due to age.

When did you start to draw?

The first time I remember drawing was in my grandmother's living room doodling horses. Though nothing stellar then, I enjoyed them. Doodling has always been a part of life for me, so I've probably been drawing since I could grasp a pencil. Now if you would consider them good or not is another question.

You do sculpture and illustration, why?

To put it simply, I like to keep busy. Sometimes an idea or concept can not be captured by one media alone so I will use another.

Do you have any art education?

Sadly, no. I did take the normal art classes in grade school and took one or two college level courses in art history but I have never been privileged enough to get any further education. What I have learned has always been from observing, experimentation and suggestions from other people.

Who or what inspires you?

Life inspires me as cheesy as that sounds. Imagination, dreams, fantasies, they all play a part.

My favourite artist however is Robert Bateman. Though I do not create art in the same genre or style, the beauty of his work alone inspires me. Several other artists that inspire me are A.J. Casson, Lawren S. Harris, Todd McFarlane, Frank Cho, Frank Franzetta, and Jennifer Stead
